I remember that moment when I first looked into changing careers. I wanted to move away from being in customer service and move up to a high-level human resources position. I thought it would be easy...

After googling and trying to duplicate what I saw others do, I still wasn't able to stand out. I kept facing endless rejection.

I started to lose confidence that I would ever be able to level up and transition. ⁣⁣

But after some deep research and tapping into my network, I realized that I had to be strategic. ⁣⁣⁣

Through my research and networking, I learned all about human resources, how to add value, and how to position myself as the expert. Soon enough something clicked, and I gained the confidence I needed to shift my mindset and level up my positioning. I knew I was worthy of it.

Once I changed my mindset, I was able to strategically stand out and position myself as the expert.

After doing this — I realized THIS was the reason women of color are underrepresented in the workforce and aren't accelerating in their careers as fast as others. ⁣⁣

A lot of women of color do not have the resources, mentorship, or knowledge needed to handle various blockages that they face throughout their careers.

But most of us don’t want to learn from people who can't relate to being a woman of color in the corporate world, they want to be able to do it on their own or from someone who's been in their shoes before.

It’s hard to relate to others who have not been in our shoes because there is no relatable emotional support and it’s not a very comfortable environment for women of color to express themselves in... it’s just flat-out un-relatable and not comforting. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

But, women of color have a competitive edge that they don’t even realize. They have heart, warmth, passion, incredible value to add to the market, if only they could break past their fears, doubts and follow a career path to success that actually works. ⁣⁣⁣

And that’s why women of color need a career coach who knows what it's like to be at the bottom and the top of the spectrum. ⁣⁣⁣

They need someone to help them start and keep going until they breakthrough. ⁣⁣

They need emotional support from someone who understands AND strategy that actually works from someone who's done it!
